NPC holds first training workshop for trusted advisors

NPC held its first training workshop for professional advisors last week, attended by a selection of private bankers, private client lawyers, trust companies and multi-family offices.

The aim of the half-day session was to improve advisors’ understanding of donors’ needs and the philanthropic advisory process, and to enable them to initiate and lead the conversation on philanthropy with increased confidence so as to successfully guide their clients through the wide range of options available to donors and their families.

The morning included several role-playing exercises so the advisors could put their learnings into practice, as well as lots of discussion on key issues that advisors had faced so far in their philanthropy experience.  Afterwards, 100% of participants said they felt in a better position to talk to clients about philanthropy.

One participant’s feedback was: "Excellent half day.  Found it very useful and opened up a lot of questions in my own mind.  Very well presented.  It was good to have had the role plays - made it more interactive"

NPC will be holding these workshops for trusted advisors on a regular basis – the next one will be in Autumn 2009.  If you are interested in future sessions, please contact Plum Lomax on 0207 785 6316 or plomax@philanthropycapital.org.
